One whole month with our sweet baby boy! Our final puzzle piece, we've been waiting for you and are SO thankful you are ours.
Burke, you are the most perfect fit for our family! Our hearts needed you and your sweet and lovable self. Your big brothers are SO in love with you and want to be with you any chance they can. Bodey is very quick to get you a paci if you're crying, loves to hold you, will run and grab me diapers or other things I need, and will randomly get really close to you and say in a super high-pitched voice "Hiiiii Burkie!". He also loves to "boop" you in the nose with his finger like he does us lol. Barrett is SUCH a great big brother, but we never doubted that! He is holding you any chance he can, and begs all day until he can hold again. I joked that I can't even hold my own baby because Barrett is always holding him! This first month has some great memories of snuggling up in the recliner in the living room, with Barrett snuggled next to me, and you in his arms. We sat like that through an entire Disney movie quite a few times! He even loves holding you up on his chest, it's the sweetest thing. Barrett is always singing to you (if you cry, he RUNS to get you a paci and immediately starts singing "Hush Little Baby", every single time. ), saying "Hiiii Burkie baby!", reading you stories, and just constantly saying how "cute" you are! ("awww, he is SO CUTE!").
We did lots of relaxing, sitting, and soaking you up this whole first month! Quarantine made for some really slow times and some really sweet moments, and you are held A LOT. You're never really not in someone's arms unless its nighttime haha.
You are such a great baby! (besides a few rough nights in those beginning weeks lol). You really only fuss when you are hungry, otherwise you are pretty even-keel. The first couple weeks after you were born were rough at night. You totally did not understand going to bed for the night and either fussed and cried, or just were restless. One night, you didn't fully fall asleep until 5 am! Other nights it was 3 or 4 am, and Daddy would have you out on the couch so I could sleep. You weren't fussing, just not sleeping! Eventually by week 3, we were keeping you awake more before bedtime and you got the hang of it right away! You usually eat around 8 and then are WIDE awake from about 830-1030/11, hang out on the couch with Mom and Dad, take a little snooze while being held, and then I feed you and put you to bed. You'll usually sleep for a couple hours, but want to eat at that 2.5-3 hr mark. You sleep in a bassinet in our room in a sleep sack swaddle! Your bed was on Dad's side of the bed for the first 2-3 weeks-he'd change you and hand you to me so I could feed you, then I'd pass you back over and he'd lay you down. He was also the one who did the consoling in the middle of the night so I could sleep! Amazing.
Happy 1 Month, baby Burke!
