pump euphoria

I am really starting to love teaching group fitness.  I have been teaching BodyPump on my own now for over a month, having my own class on Mondays this whole time as well. I am so lucky to have gotten a class right away. Right place, right time I guess.  They desperately needed an instructor for the Monday 1030am class and I was just the girl for it.  I really like morning classes. Don't get me wrong, I find myself mostly at evening classes, but it's so nice to get the workout out of the way plus the morning crowd is just different. I love them.

I am struggling with Monday though. Technically, I work every 3rd Monday.  I have been able to work my schedule around so that I have been able to teach every Monday since I started, but coming up in a couple weeks I will have to sub my class out.  Which kind of makes me sad :(.  I am really starting to get to know my class and I want to be there for them every time.  I will have to figure something out with that whole thing.

I have also been subbing a lot for other instructors.  I am taking on 3 classes this week alone.  To some of the more experienced instructors, that's nothing.  To me, it's a whole lotta something.  I start out a little nervous when I sub because there is always someone who asks, "Where's so-and-so?", which makes me feel like they are upset that I am there instead.  But then it makes me really want to rock the socks off the class so they love me :).

I have been getting a lot of compliments too.  I guess it's hard for me because I have never taken my class as a participant so I have no idea how my class "feels".  There are those classes that you love and those that you would rather not go to, and I so badly want to be a class that people rearrange their schedule for or just want to come to.  I have had a lot of people in my Monday class tell me how glad they are to have me teaching that class and that they are so excited to have 1030 on Mondays carved out every week for my class (LOVE it).  I have people ask me how long I've been teaching and when I tell them only a couple months they about drop dead.  Compliment once again.  Today, after I subbed I had someone ask me if I taught this time every week because he hasn't come in a long time and he may just start coming every week now.  Nope, but come join me at Fishers!  I call Matt after every class and gush about how much I love it.  One of these days I will make him love it that much too :).

Yes, I definitely mess up sometimes.  Today, my class got a couple extra bicep curls in the warm-up, but overall I am doing way better than I thought I'd do for my first couple times. I haven't stopped class and run out crying so I'd say I am doing pretty well :).

I am also getting stronger.  I push myself even more now that I teach.  Every push-up in the shoulder track today was on my toes (YEAH ME!) when before I would slyly drop to my knees because I started to feel the smallest ounce of burn.  Now, I push myself so I can push the people in class to a farther limit than they thought they could go.  Bonding through pain I guess.

It's a whole new group of friends and support system too. I've always had people that I see at the gym every time, but now it's more than that.  We all push each other and are there for one another.  A little exercise-freak type of family :).

squirrel dog

I don't know the last time I laughed as hard as I did when I put Jax in his new Halloween costume.  He was such a trooper while I took about a million pictures of him.  He tried to chew the costume as I was putting it on him, but once it was on, he didn't move a muscle.  He just looked at me like he was in trouble...or that he was just simply pissed.  Either way, I got some good pictures and it gave me a good laugh. Don't worry, I took it off after the photo shoot and gave him treats :).

Bring on Halloween!

anniversary + touristy

Last weekend, we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary!  Last Sunday also marked our seventh year together.  It's crazy to think back to when we very first started dating and then to see how far we've come.  I love him so much.

We started off our anniversary celebration weekend by going to BodyPump on Saturday morning.  I love when Matt takes the class with me. Then we came home to get ready to head downtown.  Our first stop was Easley Winery in downtown Indy.  We had driven by it a few times, but never been. We took the tour and then stayed to do a little tasting.  The winery was really cool and the wine was yummy of course :).  After the winery we made our way down to the Canal Walk. On the way down there, we stopped at Monument Circle to take a picture for our one year.  Matt proposed at Monument Circle 2 years ago and it's a special place for us. I have really been wanting to go down and walk the canal, but we haven't had the chance yet. The weather was gorgeous on Saturday and it was so nice to be outside walking around.  The canal is so pretty and it's a really cool atmosphere down there.  We walked all the way down to the zoo and took a bunch of pictures.  Matt was such a good sport with my excessive picture taking. We were being tourists in our own town :).

We came back to the house to get dressed up for dinner and then made our way back down to Fogo De Chao.  It's a Brazilian steakhouse and it's absolutely amazing.  We thoroughly stuffed ourselves and I loved every minute.  They have a big salad bar with really good salads, cheeses, and veggies.  After we ate our salads, we started with the crazy meat shenanigans.    They give you a card with one side being red and one green.  When you are ready for the main course, you flip your card to green and they are there immediately with your side dishes and the guys start coming one by one with the meat selections.  There were like 12 different kinds of meat ranging from a type of brazilian prepared steak (our fav!) to filet mignon to bacon wrapped chicken and parmesan pork tenderloin.  Matt was in heaven.  At the end of dinner, our waiter asked if we wanted dessert (does ANYONE get dessert there? there should be no room left in your gut!) and she chuckled as we said no way.  The next thing we knew she brought out a huge piece of yummy chocolate layer cake with "Happy Anniversary" written on it.  Yes,  we ate all of it but a couple bites, and yes I finished it off later that night.

On Sunday, we went down to Oliver Winery.  We had planned to ride the motorcycle, but the weather had other plans.  We made our first trip to Oliver two years ago on our anniversary and got there close to closing time so this time we wanted to be able to spend a good part of the day there.  We love Oliver.  We were able to take the tour this time which was awesome and then we got to do tasting in the private cellar.  The lady saw us wandering around trying to find a spot to get in to taste and she invited us to the cellar to taste. Awesome! It was really cool being in there.  Our lady was very generous and so I think I tried just about every white wine on the list.  We grabbed a bottle of wine and went out to enjoy it on the patio overlooking the pond.  I love just "being" with Matt.  It doesn't matter what we are doing, it's just more fun with him by my side.

We spent a couple hours at Oliver and then traveled back home where Matt and I made homemade sushi rolls! Matt started doing this a couple weeks ago and we are starting to get pretty crafty.  Well, he is.  I don't do a whole lot besides give ideas and maybe roll a few :).  We made like 7 or 8 rolls and some fried rice and then demolished them.  Of course, we then rolled out our top layer of wedding cake for dessert :).

Happy 1 year!
