weeks 38-39

week 38

1.5 weeks until we meet this baby boy!  We scheduled our c-section for Wednesday of my 39th week.  My doctor wanted to do it at 39 weeks so I wouldn't go into labor before.  But she said if for some reason I do, I would just come in and be sectioned by whatever doctor was on call.  I hope he behaves and stays in until that day! I would love for our doctor to be able to deliver him.  I also hope he waits because we found something out today...Matt's mom reminded him that this year will be the 23rd year of his dad's passing.  And that happens to be on the Wednesday that we scheduled his delivery for!  We had no idea when we scheduled.  Matt knew it was in February, but didn't know the exact date.  This was so meant to be.  It would mean so much to have this little guy born that day.

I keep having all these images running through my head on what that day will be like, but I know I'll never be able to accurately guess it.  It's going to be so amazing!  I can't wait until I get to look over at Matt holding our baby boy.

Matt and I had another great weekend off.  These past two weekends where we've been able to relax with no plans and no where to be will probably be the last for a long time! It was so enjoyable to be able to spend time together.  We slept in, ate lots of food, cuddled on the couch, and talked about how our lives would be once the baby arrives.  We also installed the car seat!  It took way longer than I thought and there was way more involved than I expected!  Put it in the middle or side, using LATCH bars or seat belt, use the seat protector or not, is it safe?, is it level?, does it take up too much room behind the seats?.

I've still been feeling pretty good!  Still dealing with the hip/pelvic pain which has been a little less the past couple days.  Sleeping is a joke now.  I wake up every couple hours, go to the bathroom because I might as well since I'm awake and that's probably what woke me up in the first place, get back in bed and contract for a little bit, and then change positions 34 times before I eventually fall back asleep.  I usually get up around 3 or 4 am and then I'm wide awake.  I think it's preparing me for having this baby here!

We had another great appointment this week.  Weight down 1 lb. (total gain of 24.5 lbs for this pregnancy), BP good, measuring right on 38 weeks, still breech, and baby HR good!  She checked me and I was 0 cm dilated and 50% effaced....which would make me mad if we were delivering naturally, but since we want him to stay in until our c-section, we are happy!  Dr. Hughes thought maybe his foot was down low and the presenting part so now he is footling breech! I wonder which part she will pull out first.  I can't decide how big I think he's going to be! Matt thinks 8.5 lbs, Dr. H thinks 7.5 lb range and I just don't know.  I've always thought he'd be 8-9 lbs because that's how much Matt and I weighed and we are both tall, but I really have no idea!

Baby is the size of a pumpkin weighing about 7 lbs and 19.5 inches long!

week 39

I can't believe this is the last weekly update I'm going to be writing of this pregnancy!  This whole thing has gone by SO fast!  We get to meet this baby in TWO days. Crazy.  We can't wait!  Last night, Matt was saying it would be in no time that we are at the hospital waiting to meet him.  Matt is so excited.  I can't wait to see him with this little boy.  He has been so good with calming my fears and reminding me everything is going to be ok.  He thanked me last night for making this pregnancy so enjoyable and awesome and told me I have done such a great job. It really has been so awesome growing this baby.  This has been the coolest experience to go through together and I know it's only going to get better!

No changes from last week on symptoms, just feeling even bigger!  I think I've dropped just a little, or maybe it's just getting heavier :). I worked my last two shifts this weekend.  Saturday I was really busy and they put me as TL, but then Sunday they gave me a super easy and nice assignment.  It's crazy that I won't be back there for 12 weeks and that we get to spend that time with the baby!  I was thinking yesterday at work as I was walking around that I can't even imagine him being this 7-9 lbs baby in there.  I know he is, but sometimes I forget I have this huge belly hanging out with me.  It's going to be such a shocker to see him in real life!

I have the next two days off which will involve sleeping in, laundry, packing our hospital bag, and resting up.  My mom and I got pedicures last week (which was amazing!) and I painted my nails today...which will probably the last time for a while :).

I am so anxious and excited for Wednesday. I just want to hear him cry and for him to be ok.  I hope I do ok with surgery and that he does well with it too.  We are almost a family of three!

Baby is the size of a watermelon weighing in at 7-8 lbs and 18-22 inches long!

last couple days as an only child!

I don't know why I'm posting this really.  This makes me feel humongous and pale, but I guess it's fun to compare and see how big I've actually gotten.  What are the chances I can look like the picture to the left by Thursday? :) Totally kidding!

bump in the snow

I've been so mesmerized with this pregnancy.  Having a life growing inside of you is so incredible.  Each week (really every day) I am so thankful for the chance to be pregnant and to be carrying this baby to full-term.  I was back and forth on getting maternity pictures taken and now I am SO glad that we did.  What a cool part in our lives to be able to look back on!

My good friend, Jamie, offered to take newborn pictures of the baby once he arrives so I asked how she felt about doing some maternity pictures too.  I am so so glad she did! She is amazingly talented and we are so happy with how everything turned out. We took a couple pictures of just me when I was around 30 weeks pregnant and then got together again when I was 34 weeks and did an awesome session out in the snow with Matt too.  It was freezing cold and windy that day, but we all braved it to get good shots :)

Sorry if you're freaked out by bare belly shots...scroll quickly past the next few if you are :) I just love the way they turned out!

this furry blanket is in baby's room :)

See you soon baby boy!
