catch-up

This week has flown by. I had to work Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and it absolutely kicked my butt.  I passed out on my bed with wet hair after my shower this afternoon for about an hour and felt like I could sleep for days.  The aftermath of my hair was quite amusing.

Although it kicked my butt, I had a fantastic 3 days of work.  I had GREAT assignments and learned so much. I showed myself I could really handle more than I thought and found that adrenaline is an amazing thing. This is really where I am supposed to be.

My grandpa had heart surgery on Monday so Matt and I have been up there visiting with him. He got through surgery and is doing fantastic.  I keep telling him how great he looks.  You'd never guess he had his chest cut open.  I am so proud of him! I also got a roommate out of the deal.  My grandma has been staying with us this week and it has been so nice to get to spend some time with her.  I love them.

I leave tomorrow morning for Columbus, OH for my BodyPump training.  I really could use all day tomorrow to just catch-up on sleep but I will be doing the absolute opposite.  I am excited to get started.

This is completely random, but I had to share.  I saved $97 at the grocery store today.  I had 4 employees at my check-out line gawking at #1-how much food I bought and #2-how much I saved.  That's what happens when I wait 2.5 weeks to go shopping.

view from up high

I got my first taste of being on the stage today at BodyPump.  My training is next weekend and I have been so excited since I signed up.

This morning, before we were getting ready to do the back track (the part in class where we work our back muscles), the instructor says "Jamie Dunn, come on up here and bring your bar".

At first I didn't think I heard her right.  Well, she said it so I did it.

I took my bar and hopped up on stage. She demoed a move and then started the music.

It was CRAZY being up there in front of everyone. I was loving it.  But I was shaking.  The shaking was not from the bar being too heavy-my adrenaline was so amped my bar felt like nothing in my arms.  So many thoughts were racing through my head and I was feeding off everyone in that room.  It was awesome. It's crazy to think that at some point I will be up there teaching.

I am so excited I can't even stand.  Or maybe that's because I went up in weight on squats? :)

housing words jumble

My brain is big mess of words related to buying a house and a home loan after these past few days.

FHA.
Coventional loan.
Down payment.
Mortgage insurance.
P&I.
Monthly payment.
Property taxes.
Estimates.
Pre-approval.
Pre-qual.
Credit check (Matt and I rock it out on this one).
Pay stubs.
W-2.
Income.
Fixed.
Closing costs.
Purchase price.
We approved you for a lot more than you're wanting to spend.

Today was the busiest day off I have had in a loonnnnggg time.  I was non-stop all day.  I was on the phone talking to different lenders all morning, gathered up all our documents needed for pre-approval, went to BodyCombat, then rushed home to take a shower and get ready in 25 minutes.  I had to hurry to a 2.5 hour training session for work and then had to rush over to a bank in Keystone traffic before 5 with all of our documents.

All the while, I was figuring out a place to take Jax for doggie day-care once a week (he needs more stimulation on the days that both Matt and I are at work all day and he's in his kennel, plus he needs some more time with other dogs...yeah I know, go ahead and laugh it up). I had to mail out a bunch of stuff for insurance, stuff for Matt, and stuff for this place.  I found time to clean the house, mostly the kitchen, packed my lunch, and made dinner.  I am finally sitting down to blog before I'm up again to scan and email documents to another lender.

Whew! Were there really that many hours in this day?

enough with renting

We are so done with paying rent.  It's in one form or another just a waste of money since we aren't putting it towards anything.  Our rent now is a joke.  A stupid amount of money.  If this was a mortgage payment, we'd be high-rolling (well, in my opinion and I don't know a whole lot about the whole thing, so maybe don't believe me).  And we are so ready to be done with it.

Sooooo we've started the search to buy our first house :).  We didn't want to buy right away once we moved down here since we had no clue what our future was going to bring, but we've decided to start looking around here in Indy.  I don't know if I am quite prepared for this whole thing, but I am so excited.

We are using the realtor who helped us find this place and we've started talking with some lenders. It feels good to get the ball rolling early.  I know it can be a long road and I have heard some horror stories, but I am hopeful it will all work out for the best.

stay classy, San Diego

We were a little depressed to not be in college and on Spring Break, but we formally named this the "1st Annual Adult Spring Break".  And that it was.  Amy and I flew out to San Diego on a Saturday morning and were greeted in the airport with huge smiles by Abby and Sam (we were all in nursing school together).  We knew it was going to be a great trip just because we were getting to see each other again, but I don't think any of us knew just how much fun it was going to be.

Welcome to sunny San Diego! We were welcomed with 78* and sunny skies.
Oh, and margs :)  Jet lag + margarita= nap time at the pool for Jamie
The pool at Abby and Sam's apartment

Sam pulled Amy and I aside once we were at the pool and told us that Katie and Rod (Abby's neighbors) were wanting to plan something for Abby's birthday.  We were in! Later that evening, we found out Rod had gotten us into VIP at Stingaree (a club in downtown San Diego) with bottle service. What?! We felt like celebrities :).  We sure did stay classy, San Diego.

We started off at Henry's, a Purdue bar downtown.
Walking to Stingaree...Abby is clueless to what we all know.
Short detour with the birdman
Happy Birthday Abby!

My first time ever trying Dom Perignon...yum!

The waitresses with their sparklers.  They carried each bottle out with them.

PERFECT lunch the next day.  My first experience with IN-N-OUT burger...so good!

Coronado Beach
 A little chilly
Naval Hospital Abby works at.

She's famous.

We all wore our nursing bar crawl T-shirts from senior year and did a bar crawl down at Pacific Beach

I had so much fun in San Diego and miss my friends so much already.  Until next time...
