our house :)

The month of May was a whirlwind of stuff with the house.  We put an offer on it on May 7th, accepted their counter on May 8th, and closed and got our keys on May 31st. WOW!

We are so in love with our first home.  It's so fun to be buying our first house together and to know we did this all on our own (with our realtor of course).  We are planning to do a few things to make it our own- painting, kitchen re-do, updating some other things.  I love thinking about and planning on what we are going to do next.  This house is just perfect because we wanted a house with character-not a brand new house, something that was move-in ready that did not require any major renovations-while still having some room for us to update/re-do as we please.  It's big enough for us to grow into (and eventually add family members to), while still being cozy enough for the 2 of us and Jax.  Have I mentioned I am obsessed with the backyard? Well, I am :).

Here are the pictures I took on our closing day which I guess could be considered "before pictures" since we are doing some updating.

Lake Michigan weekend

For Memorial Day, we all went up to my grandparents' house for a fun weekend.  It's weekends like this that make me miss living in Michigan City, but I know I always have somewhere to go back to when we visit.  I just love the beach.  It always brings back so many memories; it's so cool that I got to grow up right by this beach.

Most of these pictures are from our day at the beach. Sunday was rainy and icky, but we had an awesome cookout and hung out inside.  Monday was GORGEOUS (and super hot) and we took all the kids down to the beach to play.  The water was absolutely freezing as it always is this early.  It doesn't really warm up to a good temperature until August.  It's funny to watch the kids just jump right into the freezing water and it not even phase them. That's exactly how I used to be growing up down there.  I love being with my family.

The youngest member of the family, Braydyn :)

These next few are of Matt and the kids.  He is always such a trooper with all of them. Even though he was numb from playing with them in water, he still carried them all out to the sandbar over and over again.  I love seeing him with all the kids :).

My niece Damara

Burying each other in the sand.  Reminds me of how we always tried to dig a hole deep enough to get to China (or even just until we hit water).  Nice job on our parents' part to keep us all occupied :)
