8 months old...this is flying! Barrett has quite the personality and it's more obvious as the days go on. Independent in that everything has to be his idea but his favorite place is still to be snuggled in your arms. Still just the happiest little baby and we love him so much!
If it's possible, the smiles and laughs are getting more plentiful. All you have to do is say his name, or "hi", or sneeze and he smiles. He lights up when we walk into the room and gives the sweetest kisses (even to the dog). He thinks it's hilarious if you throw his little toy balls at him (especially if they accidentally hit him in the head), when we give Jax treats and make him do tricks ("catch" usually makes him laugh the hardest), peekaboo, or being tickled. But mostly, he laughs at things you don't expect him to which then leads to us doing it over and over :).
Barrett LOVES bathtime. He gets so excited when I start getting everything ready. He will NOT lay down for me to take his clothes off. Immediately gets up to stand at the tub and tries to get in. He is so giddy and smiley. Still loves being in the carrier. It stinks now that the weather is getting cooler because we all (me, B, and Jax) loved our evening walks on days I'm off and walks on weekends with Dad when we are all home.
He loves getting into everything. If you gave him a toy and an object that is not a toy he will 99% of the time choose the non-toy. A brush, a cup, a remote, you name it. He loves when we give him full reign of the house and he can crawl around anywhere. He would go non-stop if we let him. He loves coming to the kitchen and pulling up on the fridge (and giving his reflection kisses), pushing his highchair around, playing with tupperware, and opening and closing the cabinets. He enjoys making messes...pulling all the books off his shelves is a new fav as well. He just loves "getting into stuff" and exploring.
Or trying to get out of stuff too...It's impossible to contain this kid.
He definitely keeps us on our toes and is a very active and on-the-go little boy! It's near impossible to change his clothes now. He will not sit still! Much to our avoidance, he found the stairs. And knew exactly what to do with them. We are in trouble!
We have been in a fairly good routine with sleeping. We have good nap days and not so good nap days, but nighttime is pretty good for the most part. Goes down between 8:30 and 9 pm and sleeps until 6-7 am! For naps, we have him put himself to sleep. Put him in bed with his blanket and a couple pacis (just in case he throws one out) and he will usually fuss a bit, sit down, pop his paci in, and fall asleep. That sometimes takes a couple times and it's pretty funny to watch him on the monitor when he sits down and grabs his paci to put it in. A lot of times he will fall asleep with his little legs tucked up underneath him and his butt in the air. It's the cutest thing ever.
8 months brought the first tooth! The week before he was really chewing on everything. Way more than normal. Anything and everything went into the mouth and he would rub it on his bottom gums- especially anything with rubber (Sophie teether and the bottom of this rubber ice cream scoop were his favs). A drooling mess too! His little gums were pretty swollen and little bumps on the bottom and one day I saw something white under his gums on the bottom left! He was also constantly hanging his tongue out, maybe it felt funny in his mouth with those teeth trying to pop through! It is still trying to break its way through, but I think he's starting to feel better. Teething makes for a very clingy Barrett! I don't mind the extra snuggles though :). Once again, the Ergo carrier for the win!
Barrett loves hanging out with his buddies. It's so funny to watch him interact with the other babies. It will be fun to watch them grow together!
He also really loves Jax. He gets SO excited when he sees him. Squeals and crawls really fast after him. Jax is starting to play with Barrett. They play tug of war with his rope, it's the cutest darn thing. They really love each other :).
This boy loves to eat! I've been making his baby food which has been really neat. He will eat just about anything fruit/veggie wise (sweet potato, carrots, pears, peaches, zucchini-you name it!) and he even scarfed down the chicken I made for him too. He has started picking up little pieces of banana, sweet potato, avocado, and some of those puffs. What a big boy! He eats two "meals" of baby food a day in addition to nursing as usual.
Barrett loves standing and even has started letting go of what he's holding onto sometimes. To which he falls right down. He pulls up on everything, all the time. He cruises around on the furniture too and transfers to things close enough to him. It's wild. He loves crawling up our legs and standing while holding on too.
