Bear as a 2.5 year old

2 year olds are challenging, but holy cow-he is the funniest kid ever.  The things that come out of his mouth make us burst out laughing pretty much every single day.  I find myself texting Matt everyday at work with something he did or said that is notify-worthy.

So this post will be dedicated to "Sayings of Barrett" and some cute pictures, because what's a post without some cute pictures of him?

He is the nosiest little person.  Every time we are out, he has to know what people's names are.  He says loudly enough for them to hear "What's her name?"or just straight up asks "What's your name?" (mostly to the person behind us in the checkout line or someone who walks past us.  He will usually then proceed to ask questions about what they are buying, complement them on their haircut or shirt, and ask if they have a dog.  He will tell them his name and how old he is if they ask, but then get right back to getting to know them.  Sometimes I feel like I'm interrupting his conversation if we leave the checkout line.  Today at the pool, an older lady walked by.  B didn't miss a beat and immediately said "Hi!".  She replies hello and then he asks, "What's your name?". She tells him her name and asks his so he tells her.  Then he asks, "Did you go swimming already?" and continues a conversation with her.  It's the funniest thing.  He just LOVES people!

His bedtime routine includes brushing his teeth, pjs on, reading a few books, rocking for a bit, and then once you put him in his crib he insists you hold his hand and sing some songs.  It's just about the cutest thing ever.  Usually when I leave he says "thank you mommy" :).

He is still very in tune to everyone's feelings and emotions.  He wants to know "you happy?" "what's wrong?". And if anyone is ever crying or upset, he goes right to them and checks on them. Even a little kid he doesn't know.  Always wants to know how your day is going.  Asks you (and any stranger for that matter) "How's you day?" Or tells me "I'm going to ask Daddy 'how's you day?'" to which he always answers "My day is good too!" or "My day is wonderful!".  It's so sweet.  He tells me I look pretty, complements people's clothes or hair, or asks if they got a haircut.  A few times he has turned Matt and I out of his room when he wakes up because we don't have socks or a certain shirt on.  His new thing is also saying "I miss..." to which he adds whoever he misses at that moment.  It's usually Daddy, but also Granny, Grandma, and Papa.  Matt says he includes me in that when I'm at work :).  When I leave his room at night, he says "I'm gonna miss you." and when I get him up in the morning he says "I missed you."

He jumps all over the house and is now obsessed with doing somersaults.  Which he is surpisingly good at sometimes.  Good thing I signed him up for gymnastics starting this week! :) He loves singing and knows Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider, ABCs, Baa Baa Black Sheep, You are My Sunshine, Happy Birthday, etc.  Loves being outside and swimming at the pool.

He is pretty familiar with timeouts and can fully explain why he was in timeout at the end when we ask him.  Once he even told me what he did before I even got all the way there to ask him ("I slam da fridge and threw my cup.").

* After timeout...
Daddy: "What did you do that made you go into timeout?"
B: "I bit you shoulder."
D: "Yes, you did. We do not bite.  What is something you can do instead if you get really excited?"
B: "Ummm...this!" (puts hands up in the air)
D: "What else could you do?"
B: "I could say...'yay!'"

"How about we do this what I want to do for just a few seconds?"
