month eleven

I blinked and somehow you are one month away from being a whole year old. How did this even happen?! Every once in awhile, I'll scroll back through pictures of when you were first born and I can't even believe a whole year has passed.  You are such a bright light in our lives and you've molded right into our family perfectly, Bodey Frank. 

Your most used facial expression is either the stone-face when you really just thinking about who and what it going on or the "smile so big it scrunches up your nose and squints your eyes." You do it at the drop of a hat and we just LOVE it.  We laugh almost every time we see you do it. You flash that smile all the time and to anyone.  It's so cute. We can see all 6 of your teeth (yes, you have 6!) when you do it.

Bodey waves "hi" and "bye" but holding his arm up and hand open palm faced up.  You have found your voice, and you are using it! New words are "gog" (dog), "ball", "book" which you pronounce every part of and sound like a 2 year old saying it, which has turned into "booka" that you say with such intent and on repeat every day. 

Yells coming out when you want something, especially FOOD. If you are in your high chair and there is nothing on your tray, you yell until something is placed on your tray. Or if someone is eating something and you want it, you flash those lungs and you usually get exactly what you want.  Speaking of food, you are in love.  You have loved almost everything we have given you, besides broccoli, cauliflower and peas, and lately you've been boycotting your beloved canned green beans and salmon that you once loved.  Favorite foods are guacamole (probably your favorite!), chicken sausage, meatloaf, hard-boiled eggs, waffles, anything with peanut butter, yogurt, and pretty much any fruit.  You love flavor-the more, the better.

 

You are pretty solid on your legs, and can stand on your own-although you prefer not to and then promptly square to the floor to crawl as fast as you can. 

   Favorite toys are: your walker, stacking cups that you love to bang together, books, bottle liners,  the toy kitchen, Barrett's magformers, cars (you've been driving them around!), ziplock bags, trash bags, magnets, anything and everything inside of a cabinet or drawer if it makes a mess.  You usually get fussy in the evenings and demand Ergo time with mom from about 630 pm to bedtime. It's hilarious-you could be screaming and whining and the minute I set you on the couch to put the ergo on you immediately stop crying and smile as you wait still as stone to get in :)

Still nursing 5 times a day (one being early morning at 4/5 am and then you go back to sleep), eating 3 meals, wearing size 4 diapers, size 9-12 month clothes.

month ten

Double digits with this sweet baby.  Bodey is 10 months old!  It is so hard for me to believe that he is almost a year old. 

His babbling has really taken off lately.  There was a day recently when Bear went back to school after being out for almost 3 weeks for Winter break, and Bodey and I were home all day.  He crawled around freely all day just happy as can be, and talked more in that day than I think I heard him talk in his entire little life.  He still seems way quieter than Barrett used to be at this age.  I don't think he's quite as vocal, or saying as many words and sounds.  He's just a peaceful quiet guy! He has said "mama", "dada", "boo", "ba" (which we think is ball or even sometimes Barrett), and my favorite-"hi".  He seriously says "hi" and it's the cutest thing ever! 

He is clapping (especially when I sing Pat-a-cake), doing "so big", and new lately-waving! He lifts his arm up when people enter the room or say hi.  So cute!  He is cruising big time and his new favorite toy is his walker!  He'll crawl up to it and off he goes. His favorite hobby is opening cabinets and drawers and pulling anything and everything out of them, mostly if it involves ziplock bags filled with stuff where he can take everything out and make a mess with it.  

You can find him constantly crawling to my legs as fast as he can and then staring or eventually whining until I pick him up.  He's a little spoiled. He spends almost every night from about 6:30-bedtime in the carrier too lol.

Still a LOVER of food.  We have found 2 things out of every single thing we've tried that he doesn't like-cauliflower and broccoli.  He couldn't get it out of his mouth fast enough.  He seriously LOVES all food and will eat anything and everything you put on his plate.  He rarely ever leaves anything on his plate.  He is drinking out of a straw cup, but doesn't love drinking water very much-just sips every now and then.  Some things he has eaten: grapefruit, cheerios, meatloaf, steamed carrots, waffle, eggs, taco chicken or meat, black beans, rice, pasta, salmon, peas (doesn't love), shredded chicken or pork, oranges, potatoes, white chicken chili, and chicken noodle soup.  Always wants what we are having and usually likes it! He is still eating just 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner) and nursing 5x a day.

Wearing 9-12 month clothes, some 12 month stuff is still too big for him. He is smaller than Bear was at this age!  Size 3 diapers. Taking 2 solid naps (usually one of them is 1.5-2 hours, sometimes only an hour, and the other is only 45 minutes or so) and sleeping about 11-12 hours at night (with one wake up around 4-5 am to nurse). His naps kind of just depend on the day whether he takes good ones or not. 

Current schedule:

3:30-5 am(mostly 4 am): wakes to nurse and back to bed

7:30/8:30am: wakes, nurse again, up to play

9/930 am: breakfast

-Plays until nap

10/1030 am: nap (usually 1-2 hours)

12 pm: nurse

Plays until nap

2/2:30 pm: nap (usually the shorter one, and wakes by 3:30 or so)

4 pm: nurse and then play

5/5:30 pm: dinner

Plays until bed, usually fussy around 6:30/7 pm and I put him in the carrier

7:30 pm: start bedtime (diaper, pjs, read books, nurse, rock to sleep, lay in bed)

He does a pretty great job of putting himself to sleep for naps and bedtime! Usually just lay him down awake and he either goes right to sleep or sometimes fusses a bit bit eventually falls asleep. Sleep training is paying off!
