Every month I look back and Barrett has changed so much! It's crazy that we can already look back and he seems so much older and bigger now...at a mere 5 months old! This whole thing just keeps getting more and more fun. I find myself loving "this stage/this age" more than the last.
Mr. Barrett has quite the personality. Matt and I just sit and laugh at him (or do really dumb stuff just to hear him laugh). He is the smiliest little kid. Even when he's tired you can manage to get at least one little smirk out of him. His giggles are the best. Sometimes he smiles so big it takes up his whole face and squeals really loud instead of laughing. The funniest person in the family continues to be the dog. Barrett just thinks he's hilarious. He has started reaching out for Jax and trying to scoot to him when they are both playing on the floor. It won't be long before they are playing together! Jax is so good with Barrett. Gentle, watches out for him, and gives him lots of (un-allowed) kisses.
Barrett is still rolling all over the place. I find him in completely different spots than where I had initially layed him down. One time found him at the footrest in the room and another time rolled into the closet. He started out just rolling to the left, but now rolls both ways. The kid can play down on the floor for about an hour (sometimes longer) just entertaining himself-rolling around, playing on his belly, trying to get his toys. He is a big fan of tummy time. Which is funny to think back to him being super tiny and hating it. Me trying to bribe him with a paci to stay on his belly for just a little longer (than the 2 minutes he could stand it). Now, it's his favorite place to be! Pretty much after every time he eats he goes straight down to the floor to play and gets on his belly and plays away! He is pushing up really well and loves looking around. He has been "swimming" when he is excited or trying to get to something. He kicks his little legs and feet out behind him and looks like he's got flippers on and swims his arms out and around. He likes to try and scoot around too. If he sees a toys he wants he can pivot his body on his belly, reach out (sometimes just pulling the blanket to himself to get the toy), tuck his knees under, and somehow scoot himself to it. He's not crawling, but he gets to it!

He likes the exersaucer, but not for too long and he is just plain not a fan of the Bumbo seat. He actually sat on his own for a couple seconds last week! Up until then he wasn't a huge fan of us having him sit. I think he felt confined like he couldn't move around (we're in trouble) but my friend Amber and her son Nolan came over and I think Barrett watching Nolan sit helped him! He sat on his own for the longest he ever has and tolerated sitting with help for so long! He seemed to actually enjoy it! And now he will sit in a tripod position with his hands on his feet or floor in front of him and be able to stabilize for a few seconds. He can catch himself sometimes, but most of the time I have to catch him from toppling over. He will be sitting on his own soon enough!
Barrett is a great sleeper! He is sleeping through the night in his crib and taking most all of his naps in there as well. Some days are easier than other to get him down, but for the most part he does great! Recently, he will eat last around 8:30 pm, be asleep by 9:15 and will sleep until 6 or 7 am! Barrett loves reading Goodnight Moon. It's the only book he will sit still for even if he's tired and hungry and ready for bed. It was my favorite as a kid so I make sure to read it to him too. He reaches out like he wants to help turn the pages now, it's the cutest.
He has started this thing though that if he sees me walk out of the room when he's laying down for a nap he will fuss. It breaks my heart but I know he I can't give in to him doing that. If he doesn't stop I'll go in and give him my hand and he grabs it and pulls it in and just holds onto it with both arms/hands and is totally fine and will close his eyes. He just has to know I'm there I guess. At night he goes down pretty well, just lay him down and he falls asleep. He is so cute with his sleeping. Once he realized he had enough room in the crib to roll he would roll onto his side or belly and sleep the whole night there, very rarely do I wake up to him on his back. I lay him down on his back and usually by the time I'm out of the room and check the monitor he has already made his way to his side to sleep. He had his first little cold (or maybe teething?) last week though and that made for some pretty rough bedtimes and nap times in the falling-asleep department. He was super clingy and had trouble falling asleep without me in there. I just love watching him sleep :)

We try to take walks (with Jax!) on the days I'm off and Barrett just loves walking around in the carrier. Our sidewalks are too bumpy for a stroller walk anyways. I have two carriers that I use and Matt has another one. Barrett loves them all! He loves it outside. Sometimes I take his play mat out on the deck under the canopy and we both chill outside. He loves the breeze in his face and all the noises out there.

Barrett really loves his Dad. And his Dad really loves Barrett :). All the time we say "I just can't stop kissing him!" They are twins. I'm sure it will just became more apparent the older he gets. I love it so much. Barrett smiles and giggles at Matt and loves when he plays with him and holds him. I think he likes the view from up higher :).
