month five

FIVE months! You are SO FUN!  We love watching you grow and become more enamored with the world around you.  You love your mom and dad A LOT, and while you really love your brother too-you know how to put up your guard when he comes flying at you lol. There is no shortage of love for you around this house.

This was a big month for you! You had your first time on an airplane, first family vacation, and first trip to Disney World!  You are such a good baby and just went along for the ride.  You hung out in either the stroller or the carrier (mostly) at the parks and did really well! Until you woke up from a nap and realized you were hot and then you demanded to be fed immediately :). You went on lots of rides and ate in lots of crazy places-in line for the safari, on "It's a Small World" ride, during shows, on the bus, waiting for the bus, everywhere!

You also learned how to sit independently this month!  You had been wanting to sit up for awhile, and loved when people sat you up to look around.  But a couple days before we left for Disney (little over 4 months), you sat by yourself for a couple seconds.  Then at Disney, you sat by yourself on the bed! And when we got home (4.5 months) you sat by yourself SO well! Like I can walk away and trust you to stay there! Your brother didn't do that...he went straight from sitting to crawling.  Speaking of crawling, you don't really have the desire yet.  You haven't gotten up on all four's yet, but you somehow manage to wiggle yourself around in a circle to get to things and also scoot backwards a little.

You've been gnawing on your hands and LOVE to put things in your mouth, bring out the teethers!  Super drool too.  Makes me think teeth are coming, but I remember your brother did this for months before any teeth popped through.

You've had a little trouble with sleeping lately. Not terrible, but not as awesome as you were.  We definitely got hit with the 4 month sleep regression where you were fighting going down for naps, only taking 30-45 minutes naps, and fighting bedtime.  You were at your peak in Disney, screaming when we'd try to get you to go to sleep back at the hotel for a nap or at night (one night you screamed for an hour or more :( ).  Once we got home, you got better, but were still taking short naps.  You've done a little better recently and have taken a couple 2 hours naps, but we've been doing them all in your crib with a sound machine and blackout curtains haha (all naps in your crib now! Yay!). I just have to watch your awake times and be sure you're good and ready to go down, usually keeping you awake for 1.5-2 hours between naps. The latest is nighttime-you've been restless and randomly waking up a few times (1 am, 3 am, up to eat 4 am, and up fussing again at 6 am), usually able to be put back to sleep with your paci.  You used to sleep straight until 5 am to eat, but recently that's been more like 330/4 am to eat...let's get back to 5 am!

Still a SUPER smiley baby, but no big laughs yet! You chuckle here and there, but  no big belly laughs and it's pretty hard to get you to laugh.  Still nursing 6 times a day and no solids yet.  3-4 naps a day depending on the day and how long they are. Size 2 diapers and 3-6 month and 6-9 month clothes :)

Happy 5 months, sweet Bodey Frank!

month four

Sweet, sweet Bodey Frank. You are the bomb, little man. You are such a perfect little fit for our family and we LOVE you so very much!

He is getting such a personality.  His smiles take up his whole face and he will smile at pretty much anything and anyone, happiest babe! We haven't gotten a belly laugh out of him yet, but his big bro was super stingy with laughs too! We've gotten a few little chuckles and smiles so big he's silently giggling, but no actual laughs yet.

Bodey enjoys a nice meal followed by some playtime (on his playmat where he rolls around and pulls on his blue holy ball, on a blanket on the floor where he plays on his belly and back, and more recently in his bumbo!) followed by a nice nap.  Which is 30 minutes some days and 2 hours another lol.

This kid LOVES to sit up. He really enjoys being in the bumbo, especially up on the counter while I'm in the kitchen doing stuff. He likes being in the action. He likes when you sit him up or stand him up on your lap too. He loves being in the carrier and being held and snuggled. Another snuggly baby! He started rolling over belly to back at about 3.5 months and back to belly about a week or so before turning 4 months. He loves laying on his back and lifting his legs way in the air and trying to grab his feet.  Also LOVES eating his hands!

A normal day looks like this:

7-8 am: wake up HAPPY!, eats shortly after he wakes up, naps around 9/930 am
11am/12pm: eat, play, nap
2/3pm: eat, play, nap
530/630 pm: eat, play, catnap (some nights)
830 pm: into slipcase, nurses to sleep, lay in bassinet
Sleeps until 4/5 am! Eats again and back to sleep

He still sleeps and naps in his bassinet in our room, we haven't moved him to his crib yet. Still swaddled in his sleep sack, although he's starting to break his arms out.  He has requested his Mama go dairy free, just as his big bro did, and I'm gladly doing it to know his belly will feel better!

month three

Big three month old in the house! :) Oh Bodey, we love you so.

Why do babies have to get so big, so fast? I do feel like he is still a small squishy babe, but then he will lift his head up like a champ or try to stand and I'm reminding how quickly this phase goes.  Bodey continues to be a happy baby! He had a little rough period right around his 12 week bday which I am chalking up to a grown spurt.  Fussier, wanting to nurse more, and not napping as well.  Luckily I think we are phasing out of it.

He is a still a good little eater.  Nurses about 6 times a day (although it was more like 7 during his growth spurt and the day after I'd work too) and does a great job sleeping at night. Thanks buddy, love you too :).

He is still in the bassinet in our room and sleep in the sleepsack swaddle. He usually wants to go to sleep around 8/8:30 pm (eats around 7 pm) and I rock him to sleep and then lay him in his bed.  He will sleep until I dreamed him around 11 pm and then usually sleeps until 4 or 5 am!  He goes right back to sleep after that feed and wakes up between 7 and 8 am a happy boy...until he realizes he wants to eat again haha.

Bodey loves laying on his playmat and trying to reach the toys.  He has started flipping his legs up to touch the toys too which then rolls him to his side. No rolling all the way over yet though. He hasn't rolled belly to back either, but he doesn't really give himself a chance to try since he lasts about 30 seconds to 1.5 minutes of tummy time before expressing his disinterest in it.

He found his hands a couple weeks ago and likes to suck and chew on them.  He is beginning to notice his feet too and thinks they are pretty cool.  Bodey loves listening to and looking at his big bro and gives him lots and lots of smiles.  It's the sweetest thing.

He continues to be the calm in our house and the sweetest little soul.  Love you, Bo!
