month seven

And here comes 7 months, when I want to cry like a baby because my baby is closer to a year old than he is to a newborn :(  Good thing it just keeps getting BETTER! This sweet hunk of love is just the coolest kid.  His personality is the calm and peace in our house, which is a nice balance to our tornado of a 3 year old :)  We all just love him SO very much!

Bodey started crawling at 6.5 months, following exactly in the footsteps as his big bro.  The Dunn boys and their motor milestones! haha. He is getting around everywhere now at 7 months and even pulls himself to stand.  Slow down buddy!  We need to get out the baby gates.  If he wants to be held, he usually knows where to find me-and will crawl straight for the kitchen or the laundry room to hunt me down :)

He LOVES being sung to. He gets the hugest smile on his face the minute you start.  He doesn't really discriminate, but he especially loves "You Are My Sunshine".  He also gets a huge smile when you say "mama" or "dada" to him or when I sign "all done" after he's done eating :)  No words or obvious sound babbles yet. He "talks" but no syllable sounds yet.  He loves standing, and will pull to stand if you let him grab your fingers.

We started solids right around 6 months and are going the "baby-led weaning" route which is basically no purees, but instead giving him soft actual pieces of food for him to self-feed. He is lovinnnggg it!  I haven't been the most consistent, but I'm trying to be better! haha.  He has had (and has loved) avocado, sweet potato, pear, carrot, banana, and coconut milk yogurt, but will not entertain the idea of steamed cauliflower. He wouldn't even let me put any in his mouth and he gagged if got a piece in there.  He also loves sipping water out of his straw cup. Such a big boy!

Bodey is a great sleeper! He usually falls asleep around 8 pm at night (although sometimes he would want to go down sooner and the nights I work he waits until 8:30 pm when I get home) and sleeps solid until between 4 and 6 am.  It had been more like between 3 and 430 am the last few weeks, but just the last few days he has slept closer to 5 am and once even got to 6 am! Progress! He then nurses and falls back asleep until around 8/830 am! He has,  just in the past couple days, only taken 2 naps with one being 2+ hours long! He's been doing his first nap around 10 am and it's usually about an hour or more, and then second nap around 130/2 pm and depending on how long this one is he may or may not get another catnap before bed. It had been nap at 930/10 am, 1/130 pm, and 5 pm is, but he's been taking longer naps and cutting that catnap.  Works for me!

Still nurses 5 times a day, wears size 3 diapers, and 6-9 month clothes.  Sweet as can be in every single way!

Happy 7 Months, Bodey Frank!

month six

Officially halfway between newborn and a one year old...this can't be possible!

Oh, 6 months, I forgot how much I loved you.  This age is one of my very favorites (although I tend to say that about every phase, because I have seemed to love them all :) ) Bodey is such a happy-go-lucky baby, rarely fusses unless he's tired or hungry, and you can usually pinpoint exactly what he wants/needs.  He is super chill, he even just SAT STILL on my lap while I got was getting my hair done the other day.  He is very curious, but doesn't seem to have the "be everywhere, always moving" tendency his big bro has even at this young age.

He is surely going to be full-blown crawling very soon!  He gets from sitting down to his belly now, and has started getting into a plank up on his hands and feet.  He'll then pull his knees in and scoot his way around, he doesn't get anywhere fast or cover much ground, but he can scoot to things he really wants.

He is such a lover.  Loves to be cuddled and held.  One of the very best things is when you pick him up (mostly when you pick him up out of his bed after a nap) he immediately leaches onto you, grabs your neck, and pulls himself as close to you as he possibly can, nestling deep into your neck like he's giving you a huge bear hug.  It's the best!

We started some solid foods with him on his 6 month birthday.  He is really interested in food while we are eating and always reaches out to grab it, but I wanted to wait until closer to 6 months.  We gave him some pieces of banana and he's also tried avocado, which he loved both! We are going to probably skip purees and go straight to finger foods he can grab himself because he loves it!

He has given us some big laughs lately, and realllyyy loves his big brother.  He hasn't quite laughed at him yet, but the smiles he gives him are some of the biggest ones he will hand out!  He is really starting to be interested in Jax too.  He knows his Mama and I have to be careful when I get home from work not to say anything or let him see me before I change out of my work clothes or else it's all over lol.  Come get me right now, Mom! :)

He is still nursing 5-6 times a day, starting doing solids once a day, in size 3 diapers, and 6-9 month clothes.  He usually wakes up to eat around 4/5 am and then will go back to sleep until 8/830 am.  He takes 3 naps: usually an hour in the morning, a solid (at least) 2 hour nap in the afternoon, and then a shorter 30-45 min nap in the evening.  Bedtime is around 8/830 pm depending on the night.  He is pretty great sleeper once we got past that 4 month sleep regression!

Happy Half-Birthday, Bodey Frank. It wouldn't be possible to love you any more than we do :)

month five

FIVE months! You are SO FUN!  We love watching you grow and become more enamored with the world around you.  You love your mom and dad A LOT, and while you really love your brother too-you know how to put up your guard when he comes flying at you lol. There is no shortage of love for you around this house.

This was a big month for you! You had your first time on an airplane, first family vacation, and first trip to Disney World!  You are such a good baby and just went along for the ride.  You hung out in either the stroller or the carrier (mostly) at the parks and did really well! Until you woke up from a nap and realized you were hot and then you demanded to be fed immediately :). You went on lots of rides and ate in lots of crazy places-in line for the safari, on "It's a Small World" ride, during shows, on the bus, waiting for the bus, everywhere!

You also learned how to sit independently this month!  You had been wanting to sit up for awhile, and loved when people sat you up to look around.  But a couple days before we left for Disney (little over 4 months), you sat by yourself for a couple seconds.  Then at Disney, you sat by yourself on the bed! And when we got home (4.5 months) you sat by yourself SO well! Like I can walk away and trust you to stay there! Your brother didn't do that...he went straight from sitting to crawling.  Speaking of crawling, you don't really have the desire yet.  You haven't gotten up on all four's yet, but you somehow manage to wiggle yourself around in a circle to get to things and also scoot backwards a little.

You've been gnawing on your hands and LOVE to put things in your mouth, bring out the teethers!  Super drool too.  Makes me think teeth are coming, but I remember your brother did this for months before any teeth popped through.

You've had a little trouble with sleeping lately. Not terrible, but not as awesome as you were.  We definitely got hit with the 4 month sleep regression where you were fighting going down for naps, only taking 30-45 minutes naps, and fighting bedtime.  You were at your peak in Disney, screaming when we'd try to get you to go to sleep back at the hotel for a nap or at night (one night you screamed for an hour or more :( ).  Once we got home, you got better, but were still taking short naps.  You've done a little better recently and have taken a couple 2 hours naps, but we've been doing them all in your crib with a sound machine and blackout curtains haha (all naps in your crib now! Yay!). I just have to watch your awake times and be sure you're good and ready to go down, usually keeping you awake for 1.5-2 hours between naps. The latest is nighttime-you've been restless and randomly waking up a few times (1 am, 3 am, up to eat 4 am, and up fussing again at 6 am), usually able to be put back to sleep with your paci.  You used to sleep straight until 5 am to eat, but recently that's been more like 330/4 am to eat...let's get back to 5 am!

Still a SUPER smiley baby, but no big laughs yet! You chuckle here and there, but  no big belly laughs and it's pretty hard to get you to laugh.  Still nursing 6 times a day and no solids yet.  3-4 naps a day depending on the day and how long they are. Size 2 diapers and 3-6 month and 6-9 month clothes :)

Happy 5 months, sweet Bodey Frank!
