barrett matthew : 10 months

The Bear is 10 months old! He is so entertaining and makes us laugh all the time.  He is getting so smart and becoming his own little person.  It is so fun to watch!

Rarely is he ever sitting still.  Especially now that he has learned to take some steps!  He stands alone for awhile, especially is he's holding onto the remote (ha!). But just like he went straight from sitting up to crawling, I think we will go straight from standing to walking.  He doesn't do the milestones which involve staying in one place for too long. He wants to move! He had been letting go of the ottoman and other furniture while standing at the beginning of the month, but in the past few weeks he has gotten way braver and will let go and try to walk. Cruising around the furniture like a champ. He has taken up to 4 steps before falling and has even stepped back and then forward again to regain his balance. It is crazy to see him up and moving.  He has no fear.  He will let go of anything at anytime and try to walk.  He truly thinks he can do it already!  He likes to walk holding onto people's hands and will even walk around the whole bottom level just holding onto one of Matt's hands.  It is so cute to see them walking around.  He usually gets tired by the end and can't keep up :).

He is still a blabber mouth.  We love to hear him talk (and growl and yell :) ).  Sometimes he just goes on and on saying multiple sounds and syllables like he's trying to have a conversation.  Its the cutest when he does it while looking at a book, like he's reading it.  He will sit in the doorway of his room, look out into the hallway towards our bedroom, and yell "da!". I don't know if he means to be calling for Matt or not, but it's pretty cute either way.   Recently, he has been trying to saying "Jax' and "dog".  It's his own version but it's the same every time and it sounds pretty darn close!  He also likes mimicking the sounds we make.  He still does his high pitched squeal when he's excited and he smiles so big I think his cheeks will fall off :).

He is still the sweetest little boy.  Very very generous with those open-mouth kisses and if you sit on the floor with him to play he will frequently crawl back to you to give you a huge hug and sometimes a big ole kiss.  When you pick him up from the floor, he wraps his arms around your neck and squeezes.  It's the absolute best feeling.  And you can always find him standing and clutching to your legs either to be picked up or just hanging out there.

Barrett learned how to clap! You can say "clap your hands" or "clap clap!" or "pat a cake" and he will do it.  He also likes clapping mid bite so that the spoon and the food on it goes flying.  He points at everything, holds his hand out to stuff he wants (especially Jax), can turn the light switch on and off (and then requires a "high-five" afterwards :) ), and can throw and roll a ball.  He is still obsessed with balls.  And lately ride on/push toys.

His hands are constantly in his mouth, which I have to assume is because of the teeth! He got 3 teeth this month which makes for a total of 4 (both middle bottom and both middle top).  I giggle every time he shoes his top teeth.  They are so funny to me, that little gap between makes it even better :).  He really only shows them when he's laying down or upside down.  Otherwise, you can see his bottom ones when he smiles and I love seeing them!

He takes baths like a big boy now and loves splashing around with his toys.  He is obsessed with the running water and would keep his hands under it if I let it run for forever.

He loves getting into things.  Whether it be sitting in Jax's kennel with all of his toys or climbing into cabinets or totes and completely emptying them.  His latest hobby is pulling all of the diapers out of the cabinet in the living room. For awhile I stopped him, but eventually I just let him go at it. I am learning to pick my battles :).

Best friends forever.  They love playing with each other.  They will play tug of war (Barrett actually tugs hard!) and I caught Barrett taking Jax's bone and then gently sharing it back with him over and over.

I came home to work one night to this...
